Wealth And Riches, How To Differentiate The Two

By Gregory Williams

It is common to have the two words used interchangeably. However, they mean two different worlds that are subtly distinguished. Wealth and riches are differentiated by the state of being when one acquires one and also the process of acquisition. Possession is also a differentiating factor, but these assets differ in each of the two cases.

A wealthy man is considered satisfied with his possession. This translates into possessions that elicit a feeling of gratitude and contentment. In fact, wealth goes beyond material possession. The motivation for wealthy people goes beyond money and the items they own. The wealthy are not regarded in terms of their bank balances.

Wealthy people have greater good around their lives and operations. They have people within their support structures. Theirs is also a long term journey that cannot be equated to property. A wealthy person has relationships that are beneficial. He has a network of people who are reliable and will walk with him the journey of life in the long run. In fact, a wealthy person does not necessarily have to be the richest around. The weight or measure is not exclusive to possessions.

Many people lean towards the search for riches with little or no regard for being wealthy. Wealth has a long term effect and is self sustaining. In fact, the fact that one can tap into his networks and relationships is considered a sign of wealth. Such people ride on their knowledge and the networks they have built to survive or ride disasters and catastrophes. Such cannot be said of rich people whose possession can be wiped in an instance.

Material possessions are the measure of a rich man. This is why the status changes depending on comparisons you are placed alongside. People have slept rich and woken up poor because of market forces and other factors beyond their control. Richness has a dollar value and will be based on the formula used by the vetting subjects.

There is an individual nature to being rich compared to being wealthy. A rich man does not have to enjoy a network. It is possible to have a rich man living in a neighborhood where the people around are poor and in want. His riches have no impact on the society around him. This is a lonely existence where the possessions do not bring peace and satisfaction.

Undoubtedly, it is important and even good to be rich. However, the desire of every human being should be to pursue the status of being wealthy. This means that your absence will impact the people you are living with and so will your presence. It is these people who support you the minute things fail to turnout as you would desire. This will give you the desired life of contentment.

Information and networks are important for the wealthy. It is these advantages that enable such persons to survive turbulence and experience peace amidst down falls. Wealthy people are not interested in quick treasures but take time to build lasting assets around them that do not have to be physical.
