Exploring Different Buenos Aires Vacation Packages

By Richard Foster

When planning a future vacation, there are many different options on destinations and activities. When it comes to South America, Buenos Aires vacation packages often have a lot to offer. For, the city is a rather old and historic one having been founded in 1536 with additional lands added in 1580.

While a rather small city in size, as of 2010, Buenos Aires had a population of 2,891,082 with 15,594,420 individuals living in the greater metropolitan area. Though small, it is the biggest city in the province and located on the western side of the Rio de la Plata river on the southeastern coast.

The city is not part of the larger province or the capital. Rather, it is an autonomous district. For, it was removed from the province in 1880 after several rounds of political infighting. After which, the city limits were modified to include Flores and Belgrano which are now both neighborhoods in the city.

The city is one of a number of top tourist destinations in Argentina. For, the area is well known for preserving original European and gothic architecture, some of which can be rather eclectic. In addition, the city has a vibrant and rich cultural life as shown by recent participation in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, the 2018 G20 Summit, two venues which hosted the 1978 FIFA World Cup and the Pan American Games in 1951.

The city is diverse and multicultural when it comes to ethnic and religious groups, people and language. For, while the Native language is Spanish, millions of immigrants have resettled in the area, thus bringing a number of other languages to the area. Whereas, the number of affinity, interest and support groups in the city often changes on an ongoing basis.

When it comes to politics and religion, Buenos Aires has always been more liberal than other provinces to the northwest. For, the city has always been known for holding a more liberal and free ranging ideology, free-trade and exploring foreign ideas. Whereas, other provinces have always held a more Catholic and nationalistic approach to social and political issues.

The tension between different factions in the country actually go back as far as the federalists-centralist conflicts in the 19th century. After which, Buenos Aires attempted to send troops to different provinces in hopes of gaining approval. While this is the case, most missions turned violent, resulting in clashes which only worked to fuel ongoing tensions between the capital and provinces.

While there are some countries who now frown on immigration, if not for immigrants from Spain and Italy, Buenos Aires would not be the city it is today. For, it is these individuals who brought ideas such as building a vibrant art and theater scene. In addition, over the years, the city has become active in television, radio, cinema and theater. Whether a lover of music festivals, outdoor activities or just sight seeing in nature, South America has a lot to offer whether visiting this area or others.
